About Skyewater Photo + Film
Skyewater Photo + Film is a photography and videography team based in Seattle, specializing in elopements and intimate weddings with 75 guests or fewer.
Skyewater’s lead photographer and videographer, Kaitlyn, has photographed more than 250 weddings over the past decade. As someone who’s naturally introverted, she knows that being in front of a camera can feel intimidating. Her approach is calm, unobtrusive, and grounded, helping couples relax so they can focus on each other instead of the lens.

What Couples Are Saying
Get to Know Skyewater Photo + Film
Kaitlyn is an introvert at heart, and focuses on creating a calm space for couples to feel most like themselves even in front of the camera. She helps clients feel comfortable and connected with one another, even if they’ve never had professional photos taken before. She currently lives in West Seattle with her husband, exploring the outdoors (and taking the ferries!) every chance she gets.
Q&A
I wish couples knew they could truly dream up something unlike anything they’ve ever seen before, that weddings don’t “have” to look or feel a certain way if it doesn’t vibe with them. I’ve helped couples think outside the box, in ways they weren’t expecting initially. A great example is a couple who initially thought of eloping from Florida to Colorado in the winter for some snow, but after talking and getting to know them better, I suggested Alaska for both a glacier tour and to see the Northern Lights. It was a perfect fit for them, followed up by a low-key and laid back reception on a catamaran in Key West for their families to celebrate with them. Truly nothing like they had ever envisioned before!
To take your time — truly. I think the more time and space you give yourself to really “feel” out what you’re most aligned with or most excited about, the more likely it is that you’ll actually love the day you created. Don’t rush this process; soak it up as long as you’d like!
One of the things I do with almost all of my couples on a wedding or elopement day is a brief breathing session to reconnect with one another and to feel more present and at ease before we even begin taking portraits. This allows you to let go of any worries or stresses and actually enjoy being together with your person!
